STOP Insurance COMPANIES
FROM PROFITING OFF HOME Care
Right now, billions of New York’s Medicaid dollars are going to insurance company middlemen instead of the home care workers and consumers who depend on these services.
For-profit insurance companies are pocketing hundreds of millions in profit while home care workers are underpaid, worker shortages grow, and consumers struggle to get the care they need.
The Home Care Savings & Reinvestment Act (A2018A/S2332A) would end this wasteful system by cutting out insurance company middlemen and reinvesting $3.5 billion every year directly into home care.
That means better wages and benefits as well as stronger care for New Yorkers who rely on home care services. Healthcare workers know what our home care consumers need. It’s time for Albany to invest Medicaid dollars in care and caregivers—not insurance profits.
